Waiting for Tomorrow to Come

Blanket snow

Covered rolling hill country

Puffy white cloud

Dotted the skyline nestled in a

Blanket of blue

Scottish dykes lined

Narrow lanes

Odd stones

Meticulously laid

Generations ago

We wove through

Country lanes

Quiet

Empty lanes

Discretely

Packed for

A week

I won't be back

Until I have

A lawyer

My last words

As I had pulled away

If only I'd known

Waiting for Tomorrow to Come

I still live in hope

One day my young bairn

Would be returned

That her voice and laughter

Would again cross the yard

So long ago now

Memories some fading

But still in my heart

I will always be

Waiting for her

Waiting for Tomorrow to Come
